Oh my boys... Where to begin...
Well, first off, the reason I was so late in posting this blog is because I went back to work this month. I'm doing a job share -- teaching 4th grade on Thursdays and Fridays. So, most of this month was consumed with getting the classroom ready (which was cemetery for old, broken stuff) and actually teaching. It's been good getting back into education and I LOVE my partner teacher! =)
Anyways, back to the boys. They got their first illness this month. Sam got a pretty high fever and the doctor announced it was Roseola. Since these boys share everything (spoons, food, even pacifiers), we knew it'd only be a matter of time before Ethan came down with it. We kept an eye on him, and at the first sign of low-grade fever, we started Ethan on the meds as well. They both were champs and did great! I'm so proud of them.
They boys also started noticing who was holding them this month. My friend from college, Emily, came up to visit them and Sam acted shy, hiding in my shoulder, when she first walked in. So cute! Also, at our church's VBS (called GUTS), Sam would NOT go to anyone else except me, Jeff, or my mom. He would cry with everyone else (he got better towards the end of the week). This proved to be a little difficult, since my mom was running the whole thing in her backyard, and Jeff and I did music. But it worked out ok. Ethan was happy as a clam to go to whoever smiled at him.
They've also noticed animals. Sam cries when any animal, dog or cat, comes near him. He does not like it when they sniff him. Ethan, on the other hand, will reach out and try to touch the animal. We'll see how long this stage will last with each of them. One thing I've noticed about my boys (and probably twins in general), is once you think you have them figured out (ie: one is the loud one, the other is the quiet one, etc), they change on you.
Feeding has been going well. They now have 4 meals (liquid and solids 3x, just liquid once) a day, and one "night cap", as we like to call it, right before bed. Even though mine and Jeff's dinner time doesn't line up with one of their meals, we still sit them at the table and give them fresh fruit in these food net things we got at Target. They are AWESOME and the boys LOVE it! We also give them their sippy cup with water in it. They haven't figured out the cup yet, but they will some day. Right now they chew on it. It's been so great to sit as a family at the table every night, even though it is significantly louder than it used to be. =)

Not sure if this officially happened during the 7th or 8th month (since I'm writing this blog so late), but the boys can definitely sit up now!! They have been doing a fabulous job. And with this, comes the ability to be "hip riders", which makes it easier to carry them. They LOVE sitting up in the bath now too! We have officially packed away the infant tub, and they now sit in the normal sized tub. At first, we put them in their bumbos. However, to get enough water in there, so they can at least splash around, would make them float! Yes, we have lightweights. =) Eventually, once they proved they could sit up really well, we put a towel on the bottom and only fill it up a few inches. (The towel makes it so they don't slip.) That way, they can splash around, get toys, and then we can lay them down and wash them without their ears in the water.

With the whole "sitting up" business, they now grab for toys and pick out a certain toy from amongst the masses. I know it doesn't seem like a huge deal, but watching them go from not noticing anything, to picking out a certain thing they want, is incredible!

We continually feel so lucky to be Ethan and Samuel's parents. God not only blessed us with a child, He blessed us with TWO wonderful boys! We can't thank Him enough for bestowing these two treasures to us and we look forward to a life of many adventures as the parents to twin boys. Enjoy the pics!

| They've been getting more frustrated with each other lately and "protest" when they don't want to be touched, slapped, hit, or have their toy taken away. Twins definitely learn to share from an early age. =) |
