Hume

As some of you know, we have taken a leap of faith this winter.  Earlier this fall, we got a call from Hume Lake Christian Camps telling us there was a position open and they were wondering if Jeff wanted to apply.  The position would be Winter Camp director during the winter, and Meadow Ranch (Jr. High) assistant during the summer.  We prayed about it and really felt that this might be a direction that God was calling us.  So, we started walking through the doors that kept opening for us.  About a month or so after the initial interview, Jeff was offered a part-time Winter Camp director position only for this winter.  With the economy being the way it is, creating an entirely new position is a bit of a leap for the camp financially.  For us, this was also a good move because we would get to "test it out" before we made any big decisions.

The schedule for the next few months has a huge impact on our family.  It means that Jeff will maintain his teaching job, while working up at Hume on the weekends.  He has already worked 5 of the 10 weekends and surprisingly, it hasn't been as tough as I anticipated.  Jeff, though he gets tired, really loves it.  Please keep our family in your prayers as we journey through the last half of these weekends, which will be more exhausting than the first half.

On a positive note, the boys have been doing great adjusting to life up here.  Their schedule totally works out with the cafeteria, and they LOVE taking walks in the stroller!  They crawl over to the stroller (which is in our room), whine until I put them in it, and then Sam even cries when we take him out.  So cute! Sam also loves to scream in the cold air outside.  Not sure what it is about the cold that makes him want to scream, but he does it every time.  I took them on some baby swings at the little playground up here and Ethan loved it!  He laughed and laughed!  Sam, on the other hand, wasn't so sure at first and finally decided he didn't like the swings.  But he sure had a fun time on the walk back to our room!

I have also been adjusting well.  Though it's a mad dash to get up here on Fridays, once we are up here, it's very relaxing because there is NOTHING for me to do!  It's fabulous.  I read, watch movies on the computer, correct papers, and of course...hang out with my boys!  We spend every meal with Jeff (of which I don't have to cook) and he often pops in and out during the day at random times.  Though he does work late into the evening, we end up seeing him more when he works here than we do when he's teaching.  And we have the same room just for us all winter, so we can leave stuff up here, which is AWESOME!  It would be horrible to take everything back and forth.  But this way, all we have to pack are clothes for everyone.  We have a stroller, pak and plays, bumbos with trays for food, toys, diapers, wipes...everything up there.  Though we do get physically tired at times, it's not a bad gig.  We are having a good time with it.

Plus, it's beautiful up there.  Here are some pics I took a few weekends ago when it was completely snowing outside and the boys and I were happily playing inside.

The boys discovered that Hume put the wireless internet device under the dresser.  They like to lay on the ground and watch the lights blink.  This is Ethan.
